Mar 5 – HOW TO OVERCOME DEATH?

“…And to God the Lord belong escapes from death” (Psalm 68:20).

Let us meditate here how to overcome death In the Old Testament, two persons prevailed over death. Both of them did not die but disappeared. One of them is Enoch, and the other is Elijah. Among the millions of people who have lived in this world, two persons alone have entered eternity wonderfully without facing death. When we see their lives, we can understand that our God is powerful to enable us to escape from death (Psalm 68:20).

I.         There is no death in the path of righteousness:- The Scripture says “…but righteousness delivers from death” (Proverbs 11:4, 10:2). Nova was righteous. When God destroyed the world, Noah was not let to die along with the sinners. The Ark of Salvation protected him. For him, it was the ark which was the way of escape from death. But today, Jesus Christ remains as the Ark of Salvation which is the way of escape for us from the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

II.       There is no death for those who fear God:- The Scripture says, “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine” (Psalm 33:18, 19). The fear of God gives longevity of life. Not only that. It also saves them from death.

III.      There is no death to those who have faith:- “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life” (John 5:24).

IV.      There is no death to those who follow the Word of God:- Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you if anyone keeps my word he shall never see death” (John 8:51). The Scripture and the words coming out from the mouth of Christ announce you the ways of escape to death. Will you abide by them and prevail over death?

The Coming of God is fast approaching. The Scripture says that during the Coming of Christ “…the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” (I Thessalonians 4:16, 17). Dear children of God, at that time, you will prevail over death.

To meditate: “He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live.  And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die” (John 11:25, 26).
