Mar 2 – ANSWER!
“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him” (Psalm 91:15).
Despite being Christians, some among them do not know even to pray. When they face with a problem, they approach others and request them to prepare a prayer for their use. Many people place their hope on the traditional prayers and the prayers written by others.
Prayer is something like a child speaking open-heartedly to its father. God never likes prayers which are pompous, and which are drafted out in the paper. He expects a whole-hearted one, and one made with total mental involvement.
Prayer is one which resembles a telephonic conversation. When you speak on a telephone, you very well know that someone is listening to you from the other end. Even when they are thousands of miles away, you speak as though they are very near to you.
In the same way, realise that Jesus Christ is standing on the other side. He listens to your requests. He knows all your thoughts and appearances. He knows what you say even before the words come out of your mouth. God says, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him” (Psalm 91:15).
Once, George Muller was travelling in a ship to Quebec where he had planned to conduct a Gospel meeting. All of a sudden, a thick fog descended amid the sea, moving the ship any further became impossible. George Muller told the sailor that he was in an urgency to reach the destination before the next morning for conducting the meeting. When the sailor felt that it was not possible, George Muller went into a room along with the sailor and began to pray fervently. It was a powerful prayer and one of speaking to God open-heartedly. Further, it was a prayer which commanded the fog and the nature.
When they came out of the room after a long prayer, they found that the fog had disappeared. The ship moved fast and reached the destination in time. Both the sailor and George Muller thanked God for answering their prayer. Dear children of God, pray, and you will receive from God all which you sought.
To meditate: “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24).
