Jan 31 – WE DO NOT LOSE HEART!

“Therefore we do not lose heart” (II Corinthians 4:16).

One of the deadly weapons Satan uses against the people of God is weariness. He keeps bringing problems and makes the man weary. He brought this weariness to even the powerful prophet Elijah. Did Elijah not pray, “I have had enough, Lord! Take my life”?

Julius Caesar was a Roman King, known for his might, and some traitors conspired to kill him. When the enemies attacked, Julius Caesar resisted, but at that time, his close friend for life, Brutus came there. Caesar felt happy that Brutus had arrived in time to help him. But what happened was Brutus also took his knife and lifted it to pierce Caesar. Alas! He sadly asked “You too Brutus!” and fell dead.

Many such problems which make one weary may also come in your life. You lose heart when dreaded diseases attack you and keep you in bed for many days. When you do not receive letters from someone you love most, you become weary. Your long drawn debt problems, make you lose heart. When you lose heart in this way, it becomes impossible for you to do big things for God, pray earnestly and do the ministry powerfully. The Scripture says, “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small” (Proverbs 24:10).

Our God is one who never gets weary or tired. He remains as one to lift you whenever you lose heart. The Scripture says, “…the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary” (Isaiah 40:28). “He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might He increases strength” (Isaiah 40:29).

You ought to pray and not lose heart (Luke 18:1). Continue to do good without getting weary (Romans 2:7). Do the ministry without losing heart (II Corinthians 4:1). Paul the Apostle writes, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day” (II Corinthians 4:16).

It is the secret behind overcoming weariness. As one gets further and further stronger in the inner man, all the physical tiredness disappears. Dear children of God, look up to God when you are weary. Hold on to Him who gives strength during weariness, firmly. If you do so, weariness could never overcome you.

To meditate: “For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls” (Hebrews 12:3).
