Jan 28 – A RIVER WHICH CLEANSES!

“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb” (Revelation 22:1).

One of the characteristics of a river is that it will blow away all the rubbish and dirty things and cleanse. Cleansing takes place wherever the river flows. Water has the quality of cleansing. After bathing in a river, a person not only gets refreshed, but the body also gets cleaned.

On the Day of Atonement, even the High Priest had to wash his body in water before wearing the holy garments. Even those who assisted him also had to wash their bodies in water (Leviticus16:4, 26, 28).

When Jesus Christ washed the legs of His disciples, He mentioned about two cleansings. He said, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet but is completely clean” (John 13:10). The blood of Calvary cleanses you and brings you to a stage of purity. At the same time, when you get filled with the Holy Spirit, it helps you remain clean.

There were three thousand cows in a cattle farm owned by a king. The farm was kept unclean for years together, and on seeing that, the king became angry. He summoned a strong man and asked him to clean the entire place in one day. The strong man gave a deep thought towards that assignment as he knew that the farm was so worse that even one thousand persons could not make it clean in one day.

When he went around that place, he saw a river flowing from an altitude and thought that if the route of the river is diverted and made to run through the farm, the flowing water will blow away all the dirty things.

Accordingly, he diverted the river to flow through the farm, and in no time, the place became clean. Further, the new sand from the river had made the floor more attractive.

Today, a river from Heaven is flowing towards you, and it comes to change the filth, sin stains and dark situations accumulated in the past years. Dear children of God, may you be cleansed by that river of anointment and may you become more and more holy!

To meditate: “You visit the earth and water it, you greatly enrich it” (Psalm 65:9).
