Jan 8 – GOD OF PEACE!

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of separation…” (Ephesians 2:14).

Jesus Christ is one to break the wall of separation. He is the one to bring peace. That day there was a wall of separation in between the Israelites and the gentiles. The promises and the covenants of God belonged to the Israelites alone. The Israelites and the gentiles were hostile to each other. But Jesus Christ, who brings peace, broke the middle wall of separation and made both sides to unite. There was no fight or confusion, after the wall of separation was broken.

Jesus Christ held the hands of the Israelites with one of His nails pierced hands and the gentiles with the other. He has united both sides. In Christianity, the Israelites and the gentiles remain as brothers. Since Jesus Christ is the bridge of unification, you have received peace from both God and His children.

For many years, people ruled the nation of Germany by splitting it into two as West Germany and East Germany and constructed a wall of separation in between. Even though the wish of the people was to live together, their governments differed and remained as the walls of separation. After many years, the wall got broken, and both sides got united. The families, which were divided got united. The people were immensely happy and took the small stones of the broken wall to preserve as memorials.

What is the cause of these separations? Hostility encourages separations. In the Old Testament, the laws and the circumcision remained as the walls of separation between the gentiles and the Israelites. But Jesus Christ destroyed those laws and circumcision with His death, nailed them on the cross and triumphed. He brought peace in between both the Israelites and the gentiles.

Today, several types of walls of separation arise in the churches and also in the families. The process of sharing the ancestor’s properties end in hostility and becomes a wall of separation between the families which had been living in harmony thus far. Many factors like caste and religious differences, wealth, status, educational level and colour remain as walls of separation. Dear children of God, when you bring these issues to Jesus Christ, He will solve your problems, break the walls of separation and graciously command you peace.

To meditate: “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13).
