Dec 24 – A NEW LIGHT!

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” (Mathew 5:14).

You are the salt to the earth. At the same time, you are also the light of the world. Those who live as new creations in Christ remain as blessings to others. They provide taste in life just how the salt makes the food tasty. They provide light just like a lamp. Yes. You are a blessing to others.

God intervened in the life of Moses. What was the position of Moses when God met him? He was not eloquent, slow of speech and slow of the tongue (Exodus 4:10). If God had not met him, he would have continued to live as a man with slow of speech, slow of tongue and not useful to anybody and completed his life, grazing the sheep of his father-in-law.

But when God met him, he became a new creation. He received new strength and stamina. The staff which was in the hands of Moses turned into that of God’s. One who was guiding the sheep became a rock and shepherd of Israel. Since he had become a new creation, he was able to perform miracles in the presence of Pharaoh. Even today, he has a permanent place in the Scripture.

There are hundreds of such examples in the Scripture. Read through the life of Lazarus. He fell sick and died. They had buried him too. Four days had already lapsed. After four days how the body would be? The body would emit terrible stench and the body would have begun to decompose. The face would have been disfigured and become unidentifiable.

But, one word which came out of Jesus turned Lazarus into a new creation. What did He say? He said, “Lazarus, come forth!” When He said that, everything became new in a moment. Lazarus changed into a living witness. The Scripture says, “Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.…..because on account of him, many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus” (John 12:9, 10).

The experience of turning into a new creation attracts and pulls many people towards God. Dear children of God, do not forget that God has changed you into a new creation only for Him to get revealed through you.

To meditate: “Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down in his shade with great delight and his fruit was sweet to my taste” (Song of Solomon 2:3).
