JULY 2 – ABRAHAM’S FAITHFULNESS!

“Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master” (Genesis 24:27).

God is faithful and He expects His children also to be faithful. God saw faithfulness in Abraham. It is the faithfulness of obeying God. When God said, “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you” (Genesis 12:1), Abraham obeyed and did so.

How dangerous it would have been in those days to depart without knowing the destination! Great mental strength is required for that. Anyway, Abraham was faithful in obeying God.

Go through the life of Abraham. His faithfulness surprises our hearts. The greatness of his faithfulness got revealed, when he placed Isaac who was his only son, as a sacrifice on the altar of Mount Moriah. That was the situation wherein God had to appreciate him.

Read carefully the words of Eliezer who was the helper of Abraham. He said, “Lord God of my master Abraham…has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren” (Genesis 24:27).

God chose and blessed Abraham’s descendants, generation after generation, for his faithfulness. He exalted Abraham by calling Himself as ‘the Son of Abraham’ (Mathew 1:1). God remains faithful to those who are faithful.

Dear children of God, you have Abraham as your forefather. You call him the father of the believers. You inherit all the inheritances belonging to the descendants of Abraham. In that case, you also should be as faithful as Abraham was. Is it not?

God never likes double-mindedness, dual paths and hypocrisies. “Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part, you will make me know wisdom” (Psalm 51:6) remained as the prayer of the Psalmist. May the same be your prayer too!

To meditate: “You found his heart faithful before you, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, The Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Girgashites. To give it to his descendants. You have performed your words, for you are righteous” (Nehemiah 9:8).
