JUNE 4 – LOVE HAS NO JEALOUSY!

“…love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [puffed up” (I Corinthians 13:4).

“…envy is rottenness to the bones” (Proverbs 14:30). The envy never stays in the minds of the people who have love in them. Because love bears, believes, hopes and endures all things. How could envy find space in such a place? There is no place for envy in love.

The dove has no bitterness in it. Every bird has bitter bile in its body but not the dove. So, it has a permanent place in the Scripture. One can see even the Holy Spirit attaching Himself with the dove. The dove which is a bird of love has no envy in it.

The envy originated from the heart of Lucifer. He valued himself on par with God, envied God and because of this, got thrown out from heaven. Think how terrible that fall might have been, caused by envy.

Cain was not happy when God recognised the sacrifice of Abel. His heart refused to accept his own brother getting blessed and elevated by God. He was inflicted by envy, and it even turned into a rage of murdering. He rose against his own brother Abel and killed him (Genesis 4:3-8).

Even today, the spirit of Cain which is envy and irritation is seen among many brothers. Never give room for jealousy. When you come across the elevation of your brother, feel happy about it and praise God. When you find fault in them, do not magnify the same and make them public but instead, uphold them in your prayers.

See! The brothers of Joseph envied him. Because of this, they threw him into a pit and even tried to kill him. In the end, they sold him to the Midianite traders.

But, what was the end? God brought in a situation wherein those brothers who envied Joseph bowed before him. His brothers came and bowed down before his feet with their faces to the earth. Surely, those who envy will be brought down.

Dear children of God, submit yourself for getting filled with the love of Calvary. Let the spirit of prayer burn in your heart.

To meditate: “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as new born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (I Peter 2:1, 2).
