JUNE 1 – LOVED MUCH!
“….for she loved much….” (Luke 7:47).
God appreciates at the appropriate time. He motivates and encourages as and when He finds good things in us. Here, He points out to a woman and says, “She loved much.” What a blessed thing it is to attain a good name in the hands of God! When God says, “He loved me very much,” the certification by God is incomparable, and no Olympic medal and no highest educational degree could match this.
One day, God said about Nathanael as “An Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit.” Once, He witnessed about the centurion as “I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel as it is in you (Mathew 8:10). God looked at the woman from Canaan and said, “O woman, great is your faith.” When a widow threw two mites into the treasury, God said, “This poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury.”
When Jesus Christ said “She loved much” when a woman who was a sinner washed His feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head, this appreciation looks very special than all the appreciations listed above. What witness will God give about you?
When the church of Ephesus lacked in love, God sadly said, “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love” (Revelation 2:4). God values a man’s love more than his offering, donation or ministry.
You are more important to Him than your ministry. Your love towards God is more important than all your efforts. The Scripture says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5).
Dear children of God, no one could say that he or she could not love God. There are thousands of reasons for one to show love towards God. Did He not come in search of you, when you were a sinner? Did He not wash your sins with His blood? Did He not break the back of the curse which followed you? Did He not accept all your sickness on Him and carry all your infirmities on the Cross? Will you show love towards Him?
To meditate: “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (I John 3:16).
