MAY 17 – NEED A BLESSING!
“Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water” (Judges 1:15).
What many hearts long for and expect is “Give me a blessing”. That day, Achsah asked for a blessing from her father, Caleb. Today, will you ask from God, “God, bless me with the blessings of today, spiritual blessings and blessings of eternity”?
He has promised, “Ask, and you will be given”. Anyone who asks will receive. Many people do not get what they seek because they do not kneel down before God. The need may be small or big, but what you have to do is to ask God. He will surely bless you more than what you had thought and asked.
Achsah had been given dry and useless land earlier by her father Caleb. She might have felt sad over this. She did not struggle, retaining all the bitterness within her heart.
She knew the compassion of her father. She believed that when asking for land with springs of water, her father would concede her request. With that faith and hope, she asked her father to give her land with water springs, and Caleb fulfilled her request with compassion.
Dear children of God, you may be crossing a path of dryness today. You may be worried about debt problems and insufficient income. Or, you may be unable to fulfil your responsibilities towards your family due to ill health. Do not worry. Look up to God who could turn the dry lands into fertile ones. He will change your dryness and bless you with prosperity.
The promise which God gives you now is “The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, and the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, the excellency of our God.” (Isaiah 35:1, 2). Dear children of God, our God is powerful to turn even the wilderness into fertile land.
To meditate: “We went through fire and through water; but you brought us out to rich fulfilment” Psalm 66:12().
