MAY 14 – BLESS!

“Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand” (Deuteronomy 15:10).

How blessed it is to have God as refuge! How great it is to consume the sweet blessings of God every day! God has promised to bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. God has blessed you, and so, you also may bless others whole-heartedly. Not with words alone, but bless others with deeds, things, money and harvested products.

The Scripture says, “Beware…. your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cries out to the Lord against you, and it became sin among you. You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not grieve when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand” (Deuteronomy 15:9, 10).

You should know how one could receive blessings. The Scripture says, “He who pities the poor lends to the Lord”. Let a thought of mercy be always there in your mind. Let there be compassion in you. Let the rivers of divine love be flowing from the bottom of your heart towards others. You will never run short of anything because of this.

Look at the worldly people. They help others for attaining fame. But the reason for you to be kind is that God has placed His love on you. Has He not given everything to you even before you gave Him anything? Has God not given His blood and flesh on the Cross? Has He not sacrificed even His life? How joyous blessing it is to give in the thought of that God!

When you give, do not do it to please a man but do it with the feeling that you are giving it to God. When you do so, you will get blessed at this age or in the age to come. Be firm that your mercy towards the poor should be known only to God.

Sometimes, God will give back to you what you gave to others. Some other times, He will return you double the time, thirty times, sixty times or one hundred times of what you had given. Let it be known to you that when you help the poor, God treats it as though you have given it to Him.

To meditate: “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it tom me” (Mathew 25:40).
