MAY 13 – HE WILL BRING HEALTH!

“I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26).

The term “I am the Lord who heals you” has been translated in different ways like “I am God, your remedy”, “I am God who brings health”, and so on. In some of the translations, it is mentioned as “I am God, your Heavenly doctor”.

A patient is indeed in need of a doctor. The worldly doctor will heal only the sickness related to the body. But, God is the healer for all spirit, soul and body. No disease is unhealable for Him. The power of God is a million times more than that of medicines.

Once, a patient came to a young doctor for treatment. Though the patient clearly explained the physical problems he was experiencing, the doctor did not diagnose the actual sickness. He went inside, referred all the books he studied in the college to gain knowledge but everything ended in futile.

In the end, the doctor asked the patient whether he had experienced that health problem previously. When the patient nodded positively, the doctor said, “Do not worry. The same sickness has attacked you again”, and thus managed to escape. Job calls such persons “Worthless physicians” (Job 13:4).

In the New Testament, we read about a woman who was suffering from the flow of blood for the past twelve years. How terrible this suffering must have been! The whole body of hers might have become very weak. The Scripture says, “…and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse” (Mark 5:26). In the end, she came to Jesus Christ. “She came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. Immediately, the fountain of her blood was dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction” (Mark 5:27, 29).

Dear children of God, whatever be the sickness, Jesus is capable of healing it. The Scripture says that God does not stop with forgiving the iniquities but He also heals all your diseases (Psalm 103:3).

To meditate: “The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
