MAY 12 – ON DAY SIX!

“Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so” (Genesis 1:24).

On the sixth day, which was the last day of creation, God created cattle, creeping thing, the beast of the earth and finally, man. The Scripture says that when God created them, He created them in large numbers, numerous species according to their kind.

In the book of Genesis, in the first chapter itself, the term ‘according to its kind’ finds a place at ten instances. But while creating man, He made only one, that too in his image.

Even today, God creates you in the divine image in Christ. The Scripture says, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29). May you follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ, march towards abundance with holiness so that you inherit that image. Paul, the apostle, points out, “…and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him” (Colossians 3:10).

The creation of man is different and greater and then all other creations. God created everything just for you. While about mentioning choosing in creation, Paul, the apostle, says, “…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4).

When a potter takes the clay in his hand to make a pot, he sees a beautiful pot in his imaginary eyes. A carpenter sees a beautiful table in the piece of wood, even before commencing his effort to make a table. In the same way, God has seen you even before creation and has willed to give His image and form to you. Not only that. Even before the creation of the world, God foreordained His Son Jesus Christ for bringing eternal redemption to you.

The Scripture says, “He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you” (I Peter 1:20). The Son was foreordained to you even before the creation of the world, and He also remained as a lamb who was slain. Oh, how great is the compassion of love God placed upon you!

To meditate: “Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Mathew 25:34).
