MAY 8 – LAW OF THE SPIRIT!

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2).

We come across thousands of scientific laws in this world. Knowing the Spiritual laws is more important than knowing these scientific laws. In the verse noted above, we find three Spirituallaws. The first is the law of sin, second is that of the death and finally that of the Spirit. All these three laws are found to be eternally functional on the spiritual side.

Firstly, what is the law of sin? When desire gets conceived it gives birth to sin. The soul which commits sin dies. The wages of sin is death. The sin lies at the doorway. One’s bones are full of his youthful cravings.

Secondly, what is the law of death? The death of the soul creates a split between man and God. The second death pushes one down into the sea of fire and sulphur from where one can never return. The laws of death are extremely terrible ones.

Paul, the apostle, points out another law with which one can escape from both the laws of sin and death. That is the law of the Spirit. He points out this law of the Spirit as “the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”. This law is one which delivers you and it is one with which you get protected.

Thirdly, what is the law of Spirit? This delivers from sin, curse, satan, sickness and slavery. It also delivers from eternal death. Those who do not know this spiritual law alone are being distressed by the laws of sin and death. They lament saying, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” But those who know the law of spirit live with deliverance.

And behold, one day a woman in the city who was a sinner came in search of Jesus. When she came to know that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” (Luke 7:37, 38, 48). We read from the scriptures that she got deliverance at the very moment Jesus forgave her.

Dear children of God, plead and pray to our Lord Jesus Christ.  He is the one who could deliver us from sin and death.

To meditate: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who[a] do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1).
