MAY 5 – SYMBOL OF THE HOLY SPRIT!

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever” (John 14:16).

Jesus Christ is a comforter. He introduces the Holy Spirit as another helper to you. He is one to stay with you forever. There are many symbols in the Scripture which represent the Holy Spirit. When you meditate on those symbols deeply, it helps you understand the Holy Spirit fully and also to create a close relationship of Most High with Him.

Paul, the apostle, wanted to know more about Jesus Christ. He says that the knowledge of Jesus Christ is the most important one, and all other things can be loss (Philippians 3:8). The only aim of his life was to know about Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit remains unknown among the Trinity. Some people think that he is invisible among the Trinity. The Biblical scholars are of this view because the Holy Spirit hesitates to talk about Himself and glorifies the Father and the Son always. At the same time, when we read and meditate the Scripture, we come to know His strength, power, gifts, fruits and characteristics through His symbols.

For example, the symbol of a big eagle comes into our imagination when we think of the Lord Father. The symbol of a lamb comes into our imagination when we think of Jesus Christ. Likewise, while describing the Holy Spirit, the Scripture indicates several symbols like He is like a dove, He is like flame of fire, He is like a storm, He is like a signet, He is like oil and he is like the guarantee and so on.

Why are there so many symbols for Him? The only purpose is for you to understand Him. Take a diamond for example. It has multiple facets. When turned to different directions, it glitters differently. The single side of it cannot exhibit the qualities of a diamond. Its full beauty and greatness can be enjoyed only when it is seen as a whole.  

Dear children of God, apart from knowing about the Holy Spirit, make Him your own personally. Hold His arm and cross into deep experiences day after day.

To meditate: “…the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:17).
