MAY 3 – BY THE SPIRIT ALONE!

“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts” (Zachariah 4:6).

The strength or might will not help you lead a holy life but what you need for this is the help and assistance of the Holy Spirit alone. Jesus Christ, the Son, came to the world, shed His blood and paved the way for you to lead a holy life.

The Holy Spirit comes and dwells in you and thereby makes you pure. You can win over your enemies and lead a holy life keeping away the sins and dirt, only through the Holy Spirit.

That Holy Spirit dwells in you. He has made you his dwelling place to enable you to lead a holy life. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? ….For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are” (I Corinthians 3:16, 17).

Why did God give the Holy Spirit? Why He retains the Holy Spirit in Him? Some people may think that the reason is for speaking in tongue and to give gifts and power. But, apart from all these things, there is another important factor. It is for you to lead a holy life.

The Scripture says, “….that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:16). Meditate deeply over the term ‘Sanctified by the Holy Spirit’. God graciously gives the fire anointment only to sanctify the offering.

When the fire of the Holy Spirit comes into you, it burns the sinful nature and dirt. It burns down the activities of the evil spirits which influence the worldly events. Yes. You can see the Scripture comparing the Holy Spirit with the fire.

The Scripture says, “When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning” (Isaiah 4:4).

Dear children of God, be filled with the Holy Spirit always. Let the Holy Spirit keep on overflowing in you. Then the fire of God will stand as a wall around you and protect you.

To meditate: “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through [sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth” (II Thessalonians 2:13).
