APRIL 26 – JOY THAT IS FULL!

“Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).

The promises of God are very true. He promises to give you full joy when you ask. How to ask God? Jacob struggled with God. He firmly told that he would not let God go unless He blessed him. Will you also pray to God struggling?

That day, the tax collector humbled himself and asked ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ God not only showed grace towards him, but He also made him righteous. With what great compassion, the Canaanite woman asked for the healing of her daughter! She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Accordingly, God healed the daughter of the Canaanite woman.

That day the prodigal son asked, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy for being called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” These words made his father compassionate. Jesus Christ said, “Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24). “If you ask anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14).

Once, Vedhanayagam Sasthriyar returned home tired after ministering. There was no food at home. The wife and children were sitting hungry. Sasthiriyaar sat with them and began to sing compassionately, and the song went this way. “Lord, is there no mercy in you? Lord Jesus Christ, is there no mercy in you? God, you know everything and so, let me not be in shortage of things anymore. Show mercy on me and do not kill those who are evil-minded and stone-like Our Good Shepherd, Lord Jesus Christ, is there no mercy in you?”

God listened to this song carefully. Within a few minutes, someone knocked at the door of his home. On opening the door, a representative of the King of Tanjore stood there with numerous food items. The king had also sent a letter through him to that poet. The letter said that some guests who were supposed to visit the king’s palace for a feast had failed to turn up and so, he had sent the feast to him. Dear children of God, the King of kings, God of gods will surely and graciously grant whatever be your requirement.

To meditate: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).
