APRIL 22 – WHO ARE YOU!

“..you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (I Peter 2:5).

While explaining who you are, Peter the apostle says “You are a holy priesthood.” In the 9th verse of the same chapter, he says that you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. The children of God should know who they are. When the children of God realise, how the Scripture identifies them and how they appear in the eyes of God, they can walk erect enthusiastically.

You have been created by God. God has given you His likeness and image. He has redeemed you by shedding His blood. He has given you the great right of calling yourself as His children. You have been called to reign with Jesus Christ forever. When God has placed you in such an elevated position, you should never become weary, giving space to guilty conscience. You should know who you are.

God saw nobility in Moses. He willed to deliver Israel from the captivity of Egypt only through Moses. He decided to guide the children of Israel only through Moses. But Moses did not realize his value. He had been talking with inferiority complex that he was slow of speech and slow of tongue. He did not understand how honourable and glorious, God who had called him was. God told Moses, “…go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

In the same way, when God called Gideon, a judge of Israel, he could not understand who he was and how highly God valued him. See, how dejectedly he says, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house” (Judges 6:15). The greatest trick which Satan brings is to afflict the children of God with inferiority complex and make them weary. This prevents them from rising up and doing great things for God.

Dear children of god, you should clearly understand who you are and how great God is. God is one to make the simpletons into wise men. Is it not?

To meditate: “But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and all we are the work of your hand” (Isaiah 64:8).
