APRIL 17 – CLEANSING AND HOLINESS!

“And he brought the second ram, the ram of consecration..…Moses …. took some of its blood and put it on the tip of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot” (Leviticus 8:22, 23).

In the book of Leviticus, the first part covers the cleanliness and the second part covers the holiness which God likes. These two differ from one another. Cleansing is a deed and to be holy is an effort. While the cleansing is the beginning, holiness stays as the end. Only if you begin cleansing, your life could reach the destination which is perfect holiness. Cleanliness is the foundation, and the sanctity is the building constructed on it.

Jesus Christ poured out His blood itself for cleansing you. He gave you the anointment of the Holy Spirit for you to be holy. You need to get cleansed of all the sins committed by you. You have to become holy so that this characteristic of sin could never get near you. Receiving the exoneration and Salvation are the after-effects of cleansing. You can get saved even in a day. But becoming clean is an experience which you have to strive for the whole of your life time.

In the Old Testament, we notice that the priests used the ram’s blood for getting cleansed. They put it on the tip of the right ear, on the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot for the purpose. What does this show?

  1. Tip of the right ear: The blood should be put on your ears so that you carefully listen to the Scriptural truth. Your ears should be dedicated. May you say “Speak, Lord, for your servant hears” and listen to the divine voice.
  2. The thumb of the right hand: This indicates the deeds of the hand and the ministry. Paul, the apostle, asked “Lord, what do you want me to do?” (Acts 9:6). Only if the hands are clean, power will be there in the ministry.

3         The big toe of the right foot: The legs indicate the deed of proclaiming the Gospel. Join Isaiah and say “Here am I! Send me.” The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Let your legs get dedicated to the ministry of God. May you depart with compassion to do His ministry.

Dear children of God, always hide yourself in the fort of the blood of Christ. Dedicate every organ to God and submit them as the weapons of righteousness.

To meditate: “….established in the faith, as you have been taught abounding in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:7).
