APRIL 15 – A RIVER WHICH TURNS FERTILE!

“Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads” (Genesis 2:10).

God created this world for the sake of man. He placed Eden in it and a beautiful garden within it. The word ‘Eden’ means mental happiness. God, who created the man, wanted to give him mental happiness and joy. So, He created different fruit yielding trees and plants in it. The man was a loving child seated in His bosom.

Think a little about a big world with Eden within it and a garden within Eden. Similarly, there is a body in you, and you have a soul inside it. Further, the spirit is within your soul. Thus, it can be compared this way: The body with the world, the soul with the Eden and the spirit with the garden in the middle. God created a river in the garden to make it fertile. He did not write what the name of the river was. Only the names of the four branches of the river find places in the Scripture.

But, I believe that this river might be an unnatural one. Because, the Scripture says that precious things like gold, Bdellium and onyx grew wherever that river flew (Genesis 2:11, 12). Usually, we see plants like rice, wheat and barley growing in the fields where a river flows. If gold grows there, it must be unnatural indeed. In the Scripture, what gold represents is holiness and faith. In that case, what river is that?

Even King David did not know the name of that river. He says, “There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High” (Psalm 46:4). Yet, he did not know the river’s name. It is Jesus Christ who revealed the secret of that river. Jesus said, “He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will, flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive (John 7:38, 39).

The Holy Spirit is that river, and this is the wonderful river God has given you to make your spiritual life, fertile. He stays within the spirit in you and makes your soul and body, prosperous. Since the river which originates from heaven, flows into you, you receive great joy, happiness, mental satisfaction and prosperity.

Dear children of God, look at that divine river. Let that river fill the whole of your heart. Let it prosper your life.

To meditate: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (III John 2).
