Mar 23 – FACE TO FACE!

“For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face” (I Corinthians 13:12).

Seeing God in visions and dreams which happen today, is just like seeing a shadow. It is like seeing dimly in a mirror.

Paul, the apostle writes, “Now, we see in a mirror dimly.” In those days, the city of Corinth was famous for mirrors. But, at that time, there were no mirrors with mercury coating, which you use today. The mirrors of bronze which shine after polishing were in use then.

The polished metal glasses would not show the images clearly. They will look dim. The Jewish Rabbis say that Moses might have seen God in the cleft of the rock in this way only using such a mirror.

You see Jesus Christ in the Gospels; in the sermons; in nature. But, one day, you will see that personification of love, face to face. Ah! How joyous, that day would be! At that time, the whole of your heart will be in ecstasy and rejoice. 

Today, you have understood Jesus Christ with less knowledge. But, when He reveals Himself, you will rejoice to know Him fully. The Scripture says, “Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known” (I Corinthians 13:12).

Paul, the apostle who meditated about ‘the love of Jesus now’, rejoices after imagining how ‘the love of Jesus Christ would be in the Eternal Kingdom.’ He says, ‘Now I am in dearth for knowledge. I am unable to know fully about His ocean like bounteous love with my small brain. Now, I am seeing Him dimly. This body could not face His glorious love in full. One day, my body will get transformed when the trumpet makes its sound. I will wear the image of Christ. Then, I will taste His love in full.’

Let your yearning and expectation be “Now, we see in a mirror dimly. Then, we will meet face to face.” It is because of this you have been happily tolerating all the sufferings of today. Dear children of God, when you see God face to face, you will be relieved of all your troubles and will be happy.    To meditate: “Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me” (Job 19:27).
