Mar 6 – STRUGGLE AGAINST SORCERORS!

“For there is no sorcery against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel” (Numbers 23:23).

In obedience to the Word of God, when Moses cast down his rod, it changed into a serpent. The sorcerers in Egypt were also able to do the same miracle. Their rods also became serpents when cast down. There was a struggle between Moses and the sorcerers. At the same time, there were struggles among the serpents which were twitching on the floor. Who was the winner in these struggles? The rod of Moses swallowed the rods of the sorcerers. The victory was God’s.

The sorcerers may be able to do certain miracles with the devils they possess. They may try to spoil others. But, those powers get defeated in the end. You will surely be victorious similar to how the rod of God’s servants swallowed the rods of the sorcerers. God says, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn” (Isaiah 54:17).

The power of the sorcerers is indeed with limitation. In the beginning, they were doing certain miracles competing with Moses. They brought frogs by playing tricks. But when Moses brought in the lice as punishment, they failed to do the same (Exodus 8:18).

At the same time, the powers of the children of God are millions of times greater than that of the sorcerers. When Moses brought the boils on the Egyptians, the magicians were unable to harness it (Exodus 9:11). How pathetic, the situation of those magicians would have been! Dear children of God, you have not been called to fear to the magicians and their evil deeds but called to defeat their powers.

During several occasions, you have to stand opposing the magicians. You have to fast and pray for several days to defeat the powers of some terrible sorceries. The Scripture says, “…He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (I John 4:4). Look at the sorcerers and say, “The Holy Spirit within me is greater than the evil spirits within you. Jesus Christ, who dwells in me, is great. My God is so great to say ‘Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool.” Dear children, do not be afraid of the sorcerers. Stand opposing them. When you stand against the devil, he will run away.   To meditate: “Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (I John 5:5).
