Dec 3 – COMING IS NEARER!

“…the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Mathew 24:44).

Many people fail to understand that the Coming of Christ is going to be much earlier than what we assume when that would be. It is because of this, many people miserably fall into the mire of sins and pleasures of the world.

People used to narrate a funny incident to explain the situation of a man. A lion chased a man, and the man jumped into a dilapidated well to escape. Luckily he clung on to a prop root hanging there and was hanging in mid-air. At the top of the well, the lion was roaring and at the bottom of the well there were two terrible black cobras waiting to bite once he falls. To add to his woes, a rat was slowly but steadily damaging the prop root, and it was about to be cut off.

At this crucial juncture, honey was dripping drop by drop from a honeycomb. The man was tasting the honey drops with an opened mouth unmindful of the dangers which were prevailing around him. The taste of the honey made him forget all thedangers surrounding him.

This is the status of today’s man.His focus is only on the attractions of the lusts. He is least bothered about the eternity, the hade with a broadly opened mouth or the ocean of hell. There is no sensitivity too over the fast-approaching Coming of Christ.

Jesus said, “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Mathew 24:37-39).

The root cause for the fall of the Roman kingdom was Eroticism. The people of Rome failed to realise the dangers posed by enemies and indulged in luxurious revelry by eating and drinking. Games and amusements were the order of the day for them. The enemies were able to overcome them easily as their religious life had fallen to the rock bottom.

Dear children of God, get prepared for the Coming of God. Prepare the people too. Realise the urgency and act fast.

To meditate: “…a cry was heard: Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!” (Mathew 25:6).
