Oct 31 – PRAYER AND LIFE!

“…therefore, be serious and watchful in your prayers” (I Peter 4:7).

You earnestly sing saying, “Prayer is life and prayer is victory.” You emphasise the necessity of prayer by comparing it to our pulse and the breath. During prayer time, Christ the life fills you with power. The Spiritual prayer gives life.

In the life of saint George Muller also, prayer was his breath. Only because of this, he was able to protect the lives of orphan children numbering more than one thousand. The prayer of George Muller took care of the children’s basic needs of food, dress and residence. George Muller wrote down all the details like the number of prayers made, prayers answered and the prayers yet to be answered by God. By faith, he understood that his prayer had life in it and this helped him receive answers to his prayers.

Early Apostles prayed alone, as a church and as a group single-mindedly. Since there was life in that prayer, the place where they had assembled began to shake. For a successful life, much faith is essential and the same faith is essential for having a life of prayer too. It is the life with the prayer that remains as the foundation for Christian life. For a beautiful building to stay firm, a deep foundation should have been built and connected to rocks. If you want your life to stand firm like a prayerful and successful one, the foundation which is your prayer should be attached to Jesus Christ who is the rock.

The prayer of Daniel got him life. The lions were unable to snatch his life. Prayer was his protective shield. The enemies of Daniel saw that he was praying three times a day. But the Babylonian king saw Daniel pray non-stop. That is why he asked Daniel, “…has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” (Daniel 6:20). The life of Daniel was great in the eyes of God as Daniel had prayer as his life.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego knew that prayer is life. They praised and worshipped God in prayer. They boldly proclaimed, “If that is the case, our God whom we serve can deliver us from the burning fiery furnace and He will deliver us from your hand, O king” (Daniel 3:17).

Dear children of God, a power-packed prayer with determination is what is required. Your prayer with bent knees will change your weakness. Your fervent prayer will protect you.

To meditate: “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy” (Psalms 126:5).
