Oct 6 – BRING BACK THE KING!

“…. why do you say nothing about bringing back the king?” (II Samuel 19:10).

The children of Israel sent people to bring King David quickly. Those Israelites spoke with the elders of Judah. “Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house, since the words of all Israel have come to the king, to his very house? You are my brethren; you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring back the king?” (II Samuel 19:11, 12).

“So, he swayed the hearts of all the men of Judah, just as the heart of one man, so that they sent this word to the king: ‘Return, you and all your servants!’ Then the king returned and came upto the Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to escort the king across the Jordan” (II Samuel 19:14, 15). King David returned to Jerusalem with new power and new grace. The joy of the people knew no bounds.

Even now, you are eagerly waiting for Jesus Christ who is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He is going to come to the earth again. He will rule the earth with justice and peace for one thousand years. Will you welcome the King? The last part of the Scripture invites God saying “Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20). Yes. The Scripture says, “To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation” (Hebrews 9:28). Yes. The Second Coming of Christ has been your prime belief.

“Then the sign of the son of man will appear in heaven and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and they will see the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Mathew 24:30).

Generally, when a father goes abroad and comes back after a year, how eagerly the children will be waiting for him! They would have been counting the days and will jump and express their joy as the time of arrival gets nearer. They will wash their face, wear new clothes and wait for him with a smiling face. Is it not?

Dear children of God, it is very much necessary that you should prepare yourself and wait for His Coming.

To meditate: “For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels and then He will reward each according to his works” (Mathew 16:27).
