Oct 03 – WILL MEET YOU!

“And there I will meet with you” (Exodus 25:22).

A boy was of the thought that the sky and earth join at a distance and he wanted to visit that particular point. He imagined how that spot would be. His thinking was that the sky and earth join at a distant place and began to walk towards that far away point. His effort walking towards that venue became endless. He will make an attempt, walk a long distance but will come back to home on exhaustion. He kept on making this effort in several directions.

One day, he contacted his pastor and sought his explanation on this. Initially, the pastor was unable to respond quickly to the boy’s query but after a thought, he drew a cross. He explained that the vertical line denoted the sky and the horizontal line denoted the earth. The point in which both the lines meet is the place where Jesus gave His life. The boy was unable to understand this.

As years rolled, the boy became more knowledgeable as God opened his inner eyes. He realised how Jesus Christ, who had created everything came to the earth to redeem the mankind.  In the process, He sacrificed His life on the Cross. Yes. The sky and the earth join together only in Jesus Christ.

In the Old Testament, the holy place in the tabernacle happened to be the venue for God to meet people. When God spoke to Moses, He said, “And there I will meet with you and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel” (Exodus 25:22).

Today, the Cross of Calvary stands as the mercy seat. That is the one which opens the way for heaven. Without meeting Jesus Christ on the Cross, no one could reach heaven. You can never attain forgiveness and get nearer to the holy God unless you get washed from your sins in the blood of Jesus Christ.

Similar to the boy who made efforts to walk to the point where the sky and earth meet, Sadhu Sunder Singh walked in search of peace and the true God. He met the saints living in caves but he continued his search after not being satisfied with the findings. But in the end, when he had the vision of Jesus Christ who had given His life on the Cross, he rejoiced to find the sky and the earth meet in Him.

Dear children of God, if you want to meet the true God, come nearer to the Cross. Praise God whom you met on the Cross for the whole of your lifetime and rejoice. Let these days of yours be days living for God. Let these be the days in which you reveal the power and might of Jesus Christ.

To meditate: “Remember me, O Lord, with the favour you have toward your people. Oh, visit me with your salvation” (Psalms 106:5).
