Mar 15 – He Is Love !

“God is love” (1 John 4:8).

Meditating on the Lord’s love this morning fills our hearts with joy. Truly, there is no one who loves us as He does. There is none so full of love and compassion as our God. Even before we loved Him, He loved us. How wonderful and amazing this is!

There is a difference between saying “He is loving” and “He is love.” When we say “He is love,” it reveals a continuous, unchanging, eternal state of being. The Bible says that the Lord is the Way, the Light, and the Spirit. But only in this place does it declare that He is love. His love is pure—without any adulteration—perfect, genuine, and holy.

Once, a man was arrested for a crime and taken away in a police vehicle. His pet dog sensed that something was wrong and kept on running behind the vehicle till it reached the police station. For the two days that the man was kept in custody, the dog lay outside the station without eating or drinking. The officers tried to drive it away, but it refused to leave.

On the third day, when the man was released on bail, the dog—now weak and thin—came running toward him, wagging its tail and licking him in affection. The man’s heart broke. “While I was in custody, none of my relatives came to see me or showed me love. But this animal has shown such loyalty and affection,” he said, lifting the dog and embracing it with tears. It is wonderful to note the kind of love the Lord has placed, even in such simple creature!

Human love may change. The love of relatives and friends may fade. But God is love—unchanging and eternal. Because of that love, He promises: “I will not leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5). With that same love He stretches out His hand toward you, and says: “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, ‘Fear not, I will help you’ ” (Isaiah 41:13).

Dear children of God, determine to love this loving Lord with all your heart, soul, and strength. He is love—always and forever. Even today, His heart overflows with love for you.

Verse for further meditation: “But showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments” (Exodus 20:6).
