May 03 – Overcome Your Enemies!
“And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed… But Moses’ hands became heavy.” (Exodus 17:11–12)
As spiritual Israel, we are called to overcome Satan and walk in victory. Today, the Lord will grant us that victory.
When the Israelites journeyed toward Canaan, the Amalekites came against them. Joshua led the soldiers into battle. At the same time, Moses went up to the hilltop with the rod of God in his hand and lifted his hands toward heaven.
As long as Moses’ hands were lifted, Israel prevailed. But when his hands grew tired and lowered, Amalek gained the advantage.
Pause and reflect: the secret of victory was not only in the hands of the warriors on the battlefield, but also in the hands lifted in prayer before God. Likewise, the blessing of a family often depends on those who stand in God’s presence and intercede with burdened hearts. We must never forget this truth.
Just as Israel fought Amalek, we too are in a battle—not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12).
In this battle, we must pray not only for ourselves, but also for: our families, our relatives, God’s servants, our nation..
Our hands must always be lifted before God, supporting one another in prayer. As the apostle Paul teaches: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
When Moses grew weary, he could not hold up his hands alone. Aaron and Hur stood beside him and supported his hands. This shows us that we are not only to carry each other’s burdens, but also to uphold the weak in their weakness.
“We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.” (Romans 15:1–2)
Children of God, whenever your hands are lifted toward the Lord, remember this: the Holy Spirit is right beside you, helping you. In your moments of weakness, He strengthens and sustains you.
Verse for further meditation: “Your right hand upholds me; Your gentleness has made me great.” (Psalm 18:35)
