Apr 30 – The Vision of Consecration!
“Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward.” (Genesis 13:14)
In order to bless Abraham, the Lord gave him two important instructions. First, He said, “Lift your eyes and look from where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward.” Second, He said, “Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width.”
What was the Lord’s part? To give Abraham and his descendants all the land that his eyes could see and his feet could walk upon. The Bible says: “He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number.”
(Job 9:10)
Ask the Lord what He wants you to do so that He may accomplish great things in your life.
For example:
- Moses’ duty was to stretch his rod toward the Red Sea. And God’s duty was to divide the sea into two.
- The man with the withered hand had to stretch out his hand in faith. And God restored it like the other.
- Naaman had to dip seven times in the Jordan River. And God removed the leprosy and gave him new flesh.
Our duty is to bring the tithes to the house of God. God’s part is to open the windows of heaven and pour out His blessings.
Even today, what do you want the Lord to do for you? Look to Him in faith. Some people wake up in the morning and immediately look at the newspaper, but they do not look at the Word of God.
Lift up your eyes so that the name of the Lord may be glorified all around you. Physical eyes may see only a short distance, but spiritual eyes—eyes of vision—can see across the whole world. Therefore, expand the boundaries of your vision and look toward the blessings the Lord has prepared for you.
Next, begin your journey of faith toward the places you see through the eyes of vision. The Lord has said: “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you.”
No government in the world could make such a magnificent promise. Therefore, enlarge the boundaries of your vision and walk forward in faith.
What did Abraham do immediately after hearing God’s words? He obeyed. He moved his tent and settled in the plains of Mamre in Hebron. There he built an altar to the Lord and worshiped Him (Genesis 13:18).
Children of God, the promises given to Abraham belong to you as well, because you are Abraham’s children and heirs of the promise.
Verse for further meditation: “Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.” (Genesis 24:1)
