Apr 26 – The Lord Knows!
“And the LORD said: ‘I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.’” (Exodus 3:7)
The Lord knows us. He knows the sorrows and sufferings we go through. Whatever situation you are in, He fully understands it. The prophet Nahum says: “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.” (Nahum 1:7)
In those days, the people of Israel suffered under slavery in Egypt. They remained in bondage there for four hundred and thirty years. It was necessary for them to endure patiently through those years, before they could inherit the land of Canaan.
Only after that time would the iniquity of the Egyptians and the Amorites in Canaan become complete, making it the right time for God to give that land to Israel. But the Israelites did not understand this. Because of the oppression of their taskmasters in Egypt, they cried out in anguish. In their suffering they wept and wondered where the God of their forefathers was.
But our gracious Lord knew their sorrow, their pain, their cries, and their tears. Therefore, He lovingly told Moses: “I know their sorrows.”
The Lord knows you as well. He knows the troubles you face in your workplace. He understands the struggles within your home. He sees when you eat your food mixed with tears. He knows when false accusations are brought against you.
The time for the Lord to deliver you has come. Just as He once led the Israelites through Moses, today He will lead you wonderfully. From now on, as you follow the Lord, He will lift you to a higher place.
Even if your own mother does not understand your true situation, and even if everyone in this world misunderstands you, be assured that the Lord knows you. He cares deeply for you.
The One who formed you in your mother’s womb, and who paid the price for you with His blood on the cross, will surely redeem you from every form of bondage and lift you up.
Children of God, He knows you.
Verse for further meditation: “Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and, ‘Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.’” (2 Timothy 2:19)
