Sep – 29 – LOINS!

“He has caused the arrows of His quiver to pierce my loins” (Lamentations 3:13). The rival for a country may be its enemy. During the time of war, those enemies may come with army, cavalry and the war elephants to capture the country. Apart from these openly known enemies, the most dangerous enemies are those who are within the country. These enemies are known as Quisling and these are the traitors who work against their own countries. Even today such traitors are present in our country and they spoil the growth of the country by inducing and encouraging people to involve in corruption, smuggling and counterfeit currency printing. They also encourage religious and linguistic fanatics. These traitors disrupt the harmony of the nation. You can see such people in spiritual life too. The known enemies like rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms are fighting against you. Satan is fighting vehemently against you. But apart from these known enemies, there are certain enemies which fight from within against a man’s inmost being. Do you know those enemies? Those are the lusts, spirit of anger, the spirit of irritation, stubbornness and the disobedience. These things stay within the man and pollute him. Each person is tempted when he is dragged away by his evil desire and enticed. The lusts conceive and give birth to sin. The Scripture says “For the wages of sin is death”. You have to be very cautious over these sins which act staying within you. Paul the Apostle says, “But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members” (Romans 7:23). These sins act inside, induce to commit sin and pave the way for the guilty conscience to prick. The Scripture says, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?” (Romans 7:24) Be cautious over these lusts which trouble you acting from within. That day, Samson was able to defeat the Philistines who were known enemies but was unable to overcome the lusts which created a struggle within him. Because of this, he lost his youth, greatness, call and divine strength. Dear children of God, always place your inmost being in the presence of God and stay holy. To meditate: “… for the righteous God tests the hearts and minds” (Psalm 7:9).
