JULY 7 – KING’S FACE!

“And Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, but did not see the king’s face” (II Samuel 14:28).

David and his son Absalom were residing in Jerusalem. But the Scripture says that Absalom did not see the face of the king for two full years. How sorrowful such things are!

You may be living in Jerusalem which is the church. You may be joining the worships along with other believers. You may also say that you are prompt in reading the Scripture and praying. But, I want to put one question before you. “Have you seen the face of the King? Have your eyes met the eyes of the King of kings? Did He talk to you?”

Today, there are so many so-called believers in the world. But in fact, there is no connection between them and God. They do not maintain personal fellowship with God and they come to church as though it is a duty. Jerusalem is the city of the emperor. It is a venue chosen by God. The glorious church is also there. The Levites and the priests are there to serve in the church. Above everything, Heavenly King reigns there.

I would like to focus on another Scriptural portion for you. Jesus Christ is one who was called as ‘Son of David’. But, Jesus kept on seeing the face of the Lord always. In the early morning, He went to the wilderness and saw the face of the Lord. In the night he went to the garden of Gethsemane and saw the Lord’s face. When He was nailed on the Cross, Lord the Father hid His face for a moment and Jesus Christ was unable to bear it. He cried saying, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Psalm 22:1).

What is the true greatness of a Christian? It is nothing but seeing God. It is because of seeing God, the face of Moses shined like a sun. God makes your face also shine. The Scripture says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Mathew 5:8).

What was the reason behind Absalom not seeing the face of the king for two years? It is nothing but his sin. His sins pricked his conscience. With all hesitations, he remained in Jerusalem without seeing the face of the King for two years.

Dear children of God, firstly confess all your sins and this will pave the way for you to have fellowship with God and see His face. The blood of Jesus Christ is powerful to cleanse you. When the sins get cleared from you, you will be able to see the face of God. When the wall of the hurdle is removed, the light of God will shine upon you.

To meditate: “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear” (Isaiah 59:1).
