Sep – 26 – WHEN THE HOUR HAD COME!

“When the hour had come, He sat down and the twelve apostles with Him” (Luke 22:14). God was particular in maintaining a particular time and a particular hour. You should not forget that apart from submitting Himself to the voice of the Lord, He also waited for the time fixed Him. His eye was expecting the hour of God. He was expecting the right time even to sit for supper along with the disciples. ‘When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table’ says the Scripture. Dear children of God, submit yourself to know the hour and the time. God will exalt you at the right time. He will help you at the right time. He will accomplish each and every thing at its most appropriate time. The Psalmist says that God will give food in due season (Psalm 104:27) and God has a particular time to act (Psalm 119:126). We read in the book of Luke “He will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say” (Luke 12:12). Will you sit at the feet of God and wait so that God helps you at the right time? Will you eagerly wait for the right time for the favour to arrive? Once, God’s servant Billy Graham had been invited by the Queen of England to dine with her. He had to reach the venue forty-five minutes in advance and wait for the queen to arrive. Dear children of God, do you go at the right time to meet God who is the King of kings? Have you allotted particular times for prayer to speak with Him? Many have the good habit of going to office in time but even such people come late to the church and show their disrespect. They are mindful in coming late to the church and leaving early. Even when many Babylonian satraps, lords and the chief official were conspiring against Daniel, he did not fail to pray to God three times a day. Daniel never missed an opportunity to meet God at His time. Similarly, Esther had been waiting for the time to plead to God and the time to meet the king. She fasted and prayed for three days and nights. In the end, when the right time arrived, she fully utilised it. As a result, she secured a permanent place in the Scripture. To meditate: ‘Thus says the Lord: “Even the stork in the heavens knows her appointed times; and the turtledove, the swift, and the swallow observe the time of their coming. But my people do not know the judgment of the Lord” (Jeremiah 8:4, 7).
