Sep – 19 – RAVENS THAT CRY!

“He gives to the beast its food and to the young ravens that cry” (Psalm 147:9).

Even the young ravens look up to God and call Him. God hears that voice of calling; gives them food. There are several lessons we could learn from the birds by watching them carefully.
One has to go to the ant, consider its ways and learn to be wise (Proverbs 6:6). You have to look at the wildflowers and learn how God dresses them (Luke 12:27). You should learn the way to forget your worries by watching how God feeds the birds in the air (Mathew 6:26). You also should learn to look up and call God by watching the young ravens who receive their food, by calling.
How definite it is for God who answers even the young ravens, to also answer to the man who has been created in the image of Himself! Are you not special than the birds of the air? Do you not possess a priceless soul? Has not Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for your Redemption? He will surely listen to your cry.
Generally, people will not like ravens. They used to call it ‘scavenger of the sky.’ It will eat dead and rotten items. There is no beauty in it and is very dark in colour. Its voice is also unbearably bad to hear. Even if a thousand ravens are killed on a day, in no way it will be a loss to the world. When a raven dies, its story ends there. But the man is not so. Even when he dies, his soul inherits the eternal kingdom. Is it not certain that God who answers the calling of a raven will answer you who possess a never-dying soul?
God willed to feed Elijah only through a raven. Though there are thousands of birds, God gave an assignment to the raven which had called Him. How faithfully and perfectly it carried out the job assigned! The Scripture says, “The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening and he drank from the brook” (I Kings 17:6).
Generally, no one could train a raven. It never gives food to others. It will only look at the possibility of snatching whatever the man has in his hands. But God trained it. He made the never giving raven to give. The ravens fulfilled the will of God. Dear children of God, God loves you. He stays as your Heavenly Father. Fully dedicate yourself to do the will of God. He will surely feed you also.

To meditate: “Who provides food for the raven, when its young ones cry to Godand wander about for lack of food?” (Job 38:41).
