JUNE 17 – BE STILL!
“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
Sitting at the feet of God is a blessed experience. Sitting silently in the presence of God shows your faith in Him. You believe Him, place all your burdens on Him and keep on praising Him, relaxing silently at His feet. This shows how much you love Him.
In human life, the experience of sitting at God’s feet is very essential. Our wonderful God is one to lead you beside the still waters. Is it not? In this rushing world, man does not like to sit idle. He places all the burdens on his own head and carries all the worries by himself.
A person who had newly come to the ministry listed out his responsibilities he had to carry out. His list went this way. “I have to prepare five sermons for this week. I have to conduct three marriages this week. There I have to deliver the message, and here I have to preach at a birthday function. I have to meet many people who are sick and the higher-ups have arranged many camps and I have to share the Word of God in them.”
A person who was there at that time, asked, “Sir if you have so many engagements, how will you find time to listen to God when He speaks to you?” This is not a question put forward to that young servant of God alone. It is the one posed to every one of us. What will be your answer?
Look up to Jesus Christ. He ministered day and night without any break. But even then, He allotted time to get away from the people and spend time with the Lord alone. His habit of climbing the hill alone to meet the Lord and to pray there for the whole night, enriched Him with power, strength, refreshment and speed. He went to the wilderness and sat in the presence of the Lord. He went to the Gethsemane Garden and fervently prayed there.
That day, Jesus Christ looked at Martha who had no time to sit in His presence and said, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41, 42).
Dear children of God, allocate times to sit at the feet of God. Wake up in the morning and go to sit in His presence.
To meditate: “Listen to this, O Job; stand still and consider the wondrous works of God” (Job 37:14).
