Sep – 03 – NEED NOT DISMAY!
“Let no man’s heart fail because of him” (I Samuel 17:32).
“Let no man’s heart fail because of him” are the words of hope spoken by David. The appearance of Goliath, the Philistine warrior dismayed all the Israelites. But David did not dismay. Further, he stayed as the one to strengthen others through his fearless words.
Tribulation is there for everyone who is born in the world. But at the same time, you, the children of God should not forget that you have been called to be victorious and not to stay discouraged with fears. Whichever man’s eyes do not look up to his problems but look up to God instead, he will emerge victorious always.
That day, Saul and other warriors viewed Goliath as a huge giant. But David saw that one who is greater than Goliath was with him. He not only believed that the Name of God will bring him victory but also was always thinking only about the power of God. Maybe, the thought of the consequences which would arise if he gets defeated would have come to his mind. If he had lost the fight, the first thing would have been loss of his life. King Saul would have lost his kingship. The Israelites too would have been enslaved by the Philistines.
David did not get depressed with such thoughts but spoke the words of victory in the Name of God. Do you know what the tiny looking David said to a giant like Goliath? He said “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel” (I Samuel 17:46).
Never get dismayed when you face problems or when the man of the world rises against you. The Scripture says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1).
Read the following verses and proclaim your hope. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31),“Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?”(Romans 8:33) and “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (Psalm 23:4). Dear children of God, when you do so, be assured that all your problems will get broken and run away.
To meditate: “…this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them…. The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear….will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine” (I Samuel 17:36, 37).
