“Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you” (Joshua 3:5).

Why should you lead a holy life? Only if you have holiness in your life, you could expect miracles from God. Whenever man tries to go nearer to God, God eagerly expects him to lead a holy life.

What do many people say? ‘I will accept God if He does this miracle in my family. I will worship Jesus if He gives me good employment. We will accept Jesus as a family if He gives us a male child’ and so on. They also make resolutions that way.

But what does the Scripture say? Firstly, you have to sanctify yourself. Only after doing this, you can expect a miracle from God. Jesus Christ said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Mathew 6:33). God’s righteousness is His holiness.

When a pastor was getting ready to participate in a revival meeting, the brothers who had arranged that meeting told, “People are expecting miracles. Many people are expecting divine healing, power, deliverance and prophecies. So, please come prepared for this.” The pastor also decided to pray for this before departing to the meeting.

When the pastor fell on his knees and prayed to God for the people to receive miracles, God asked, “I am ready to do the miracles. But are the people prepared to leave their sinful ways and lead a holy life?”

Joshua looked at the people and said, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you” (Joshua 3:5). God asked Moses to consecrate the people for two days and promised to descend upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people (Exodus 19:10, 11). When you do all the necessary things to God and get improved in your holiness, God will surely do what He had to do for you.

Dear children, are your problems and struggles on the increase day after day? Sit at the feet of God and cleanse yourself. One who performed the miracle of making the River Jordan turn away to enable the children of Israel to cross over, will surely do wonders also in your life.

To meditate: “He does great things past finding out, yes, wonders without number” (Job 9:10).
