JUNE 12 – ONENESS!

“Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden….” (Genesis 2:15).

Our God is not only a loving God but also one who longs for love. Right from the creation of man, He has showered His love upon him and has maintained close fellowship with him. How special it is for an ordinary creation to have fellowship with God who created him!

The Scripture says that God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden. If it is so, the creation of Adam might have happened outside the Garden of Eden. Only then it would be appropriate to say that Adam was brought to the Garden of Eden.

To be specific, first the creation of the earth; then Eden on the earth; then the Garden of Eden. Similar is the creation of the Tabernacle. If the earth is treated as the outer sanctuary, Eden and the garden could be compared to the Holy place and the Holy of holies respectively. The Holy of holies is one place which God had filled with His glory. He had covered it with His Shekinah glory.

The Tamil word for ‘Eden’ is ‘ஏதேன்.’ The Tamil word ‘தேன்’ gives the meaning ‘honey.’ This shows that Eden had the presence of God, which is sweeter than the honey, in it. God might have walked in the Garden during the cool times of the day and spoken sweet words to Adam. Those sweet words might have flown into the ears of Adam as honey. Every day, he was delighted in the Lord.

Today, God has placed the church as the Garden of Eden. There were several trees in the Garden of Eden, and in the same way, God has fixed several believers in the church. God said, ‘for where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.’ Accordingly, He comes into the gathering when the church assembles. That is why David said, ‘Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.’

God gave those trees in the garden, for people to eat the fruits and grow in their bodies and souls. In the same way, He gave the Word of God and the sermons to the church. It is essential that you should eat them and get strengthened in your soul.

There was a tree of life in the middle of the Garden of Eden. Jesus Christ is that tree. The tree of life gives Jesus Christ as eternal life to you. There is life in His Word. It works with power. Dear children of God, eat the words of Jesus every day and be strengthened in your life.

To meditate: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
