JUNE 11 – THE HOVERING SPIRIT OF GOD!

“The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:2).

Even today, the Holy Spirit is hovering over the places that are without form, void and dark. He will surely change the situation and command form, fullness and light in those places.

Today, if you find your home is improper and void, call the Holy Spirit with love. Plead to say, “Holy Spirit, you who hovered upon the face of the waters to bring in form, fullness and light into the world, hover upon us and bring in divine happiness and peace to us.” The Scripture says, “You send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth” (Psalm 104:30).

The hovering of the Holy Spirit is comparable to a bird laying eggs and hatching them with love. Hatching is a process, in which the warmth of the sitting hen turns the formless liquid within an egg into a beautiful chick. This process is beyond man’s understanding. Similar to this, God is hovering to create a glorious one from the emptiness.

In the Scripture, we meet the Holy Spirit for the first time in Genesis 1:2. We find the Holy Spirit who began His works there continuing His works even up to Revelation 22:17. When He works, life is created there. The power of creation is revealed there. At the same time, if He stops working, the situation of being without form, void and darkness will return.

The Holy Spirit, who was hovering over nature in the beginning also began to hover upon men later. He hovered to bring back life in the man who had died in sins and iniquities. The Scripture says, It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing” (John 6:63). God is powerful to raise any man from death, strengthen him and bring back shape, fullness and light in his life.

The Holy Spirit, who was hovering over nature and man is presently hovering over the churches also. In the 2nd and 3rd chapters of the book of Revelation the term “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” finds a place at seven instances. If you have ears that could hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, you can hear His thin voice clearly. Dear children of God, may the Holy Spirit of God hover upon you and bless you.

To meditate: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26).
