MAY 29 – IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH!
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (I Corinthians 3:16).
Our God is faithful. He expects you to worship Him in Spirit and truth. What he wishes is that you should be truthful in His church.
There is a funny story. Once a pastor of a church in his dream, saw that he went to heaven. Since that was a Sunday, worships were there all over the world. God asked the pastor whether he would like to see the worship of his church from heaven, he answered in the affirmative.
God enabled the pastor to see the worship of his church. It was the time of singing. Though all in the church were singing, there was no sound and the lip movement alone was seen. But, when such a big group of believers were singing, God and the pastor heard the voice of one young man alone.
When the pastor asked God why it was so, God said, “Those people are singing just from their lips. They sing with the intention that others should hear their singing and exhibit their talent in singing. Their top priority is tune and music. Since they sing from the flesh, it is not reaching here.
This young man has come to the church to worship me in spirit and truth. That is why we hear his voice alone in heaven”.
One of the expectations of God is for you to sing and praise Him. If you come to the church with the intention of praising and worshipping Him, surely He will delight you rapturously and bless you while sending you off. Job longed to meet God in His presence. He says, “Oh that I knew where I might find Him that I might come to His seat! I would present my case before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments” (Job 23:3, 4).
Dear children of God, when you come to the church, worship Him in spirit and truth. Sit in His divine presence and rejoice in getting filled with His peace. The blessings of the church of God are countless.
To meditate: “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations” (Psalm 89:1).
