MAY 10 – SIGNIFICANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

“And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, [Abba, Father” (Galatians 4:6).

The Father has given us the Holy Spirit. He has also given us all the blessings of the Most High through the Holy Spirit. But, many people do not realize the importance and usefulness of the Holy Spirit. How pitiable this is!

Once a botanical expert invented a good variety of mango. He took two plants of the new variety, chose two persons and gave one plant to each of them. One person planted the sapling in his garden, applied fertilizer and regularly watered it and maintained it with the utmost care, and as a result, the plant grew into a tree and yielded thousands of tasty fruits. But the other person did not realize how precious the plant was, did not take sufficient care, and it withered away in due course. The botanical expert was very sad to see the withered plant.

God has given you the precious Holy Spirit. But, think a while over how you have made use of it. Are you enjoying the full benefits of the Holy Spirit? Or are you ignoring the Holy Spirit and thereby wasting the opportunity?

Look at the life of Jesus Christ carefully. He was filled with the Holy Spirit. He was able to prevail over satanic tests. He cast out the devils. He performed thousands of miracles. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit, He was able to know what the people had in their minds. He preached powerfully and ministered continuously.

Look at the apostles of the beginning. Since they got filled with the Holy Spirit, they harvested the souls in huge numbers in their ministries. They proved that Jesus Christ is the Saviour. They made the gentiles obey the Scripture through miracles and signs. Today, you have received the same Holy Spirit. How do you make use of the same? Some people forget that the Holy Spirit is with them. They forgot to glorify God through their body and spirit (I Corinthians 6:20).

Dear children of God, make the Spirit within you burn with flames. Get filled with the gifts of the Spirit. Let the sweet fruits of the Spirit be seen in you.

To meditate: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
