Jan 25 – Perfect Holiness!

“Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).

While there may be a limit to everything in life, there is no limit at all for holiness. And the zeal for sanctification, will help you grow from holiness to holiness.

Now, how can you be perfected in holiness? It is the fear of God, that urges you to be holy in the image of Christ. God-fearing person will move away from all forms of lust, will flee from sin and be cautious to preserve himself. But a person who is not God-fearing, will be presumptuous and get into sinful ways. The Scripture tells us: “There is no fear of God before the eyes of an evil person” (Psalm 36:1).

Consider the life of Joseph. The reason why his life was preserved is because of his fear of God. When he was faced with temptation, he did not see it as a sin before men but as a terrible sin before the God who sees him.

We can read about his statement in the following verse: “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9). Fear of God is realizing that an act or thought will be a sin in the eyes of God, and fleeing away from that situation.

When you make a firm determination in your heart to preserve your holiness, with the fear of God, He will definitely help you to escape from sinful temptations. You should have the fear of God and the zeal to preserve your holiness. And the Lord will wash you with His blood, sanctify you with His Word and cover you with the Holy Spirit.

When you consecrate yourselves to holiness, you will be joyful and exuberant at the Coming of our Lord. You will meet the Lord in the air, with complete liberation, having preserved your holiness.

Since our God is perfect in holiness, you should also prepare yourselves and consecrate for perfect holiness. The Scripture also tells us: “for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7).

Christ is the head of the Church. “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1:22-23). Since you are a part of His body and a member of Church, how can you be perfectly joined together with Him – when you live in your sins? Children of God, be perfected in holiness and transform yourselves in the image of Christ.

Verse for further meditation: “Therefore, you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Mathew 24:44).
