Mar 19 – THE FIRST!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Mathew 6:33).

God wills to give everything to you. He has promised that these things will get added to you. What do the words ‘All these things’ mean? These words indicate both worldly and spiritual blessings.

But what is it you have to do? Firstly, you have to seek God, His Kingdom and His righteousness. If you do so, His heart will rejoice and apart from giving you the blessings of the Most High, He will also give you the worldly blessings like health etc.

While praying, many people seek “If God blesses me with good health, all my family members will embrace Christianity. If I get selected for this employment, I will give God a big amount as an offertory. My loan problem should get solved. My children must get married soon. I should own a new house” and so on. God is eager to give all these things to you. At the same time, imagine how God’s heart would be if you seek Him for these things alone. The Scripture says, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable” (I Corinthians 15:19).

All you need to do is to seek God. Look up to His golden face always and rejoice in His presence. If you show importance to the worldly things rather than seeking Him, being offended He will leave you sadly.

The Scripture points out the experience of a child of God. “By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did not find him. “I will rise now,” I said, “And go about the city; In the streets and in the squares, I will seek the one I love.” I sought him, but I did not find him.

The watchmen who go about the city found me; said, “Have you seen the one I love?” Scarcely had I passed by them when I found the one I love. I held him and would not let him go, until I had brought him to the house of my mother, and into the chamber of her who conceived me” (Song of Solomon 3:1-4). Dear children of God, let this be your experience. To meditate: “so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us” (Acts 17:27).
