Dec 16 – LORD IS MY REFUGE !

“Be my rock of refuge, A fortress of defence to save me.” (Psalm 31:2)

Every person needs shelter and protection. When a man builds a house, his first priority is to take care of the safety and security. He ensures that all provisions for security and protection are in place.

Similarly, those who are in politics and in high positions, make sure that all security arrangements are in place for them. In India, there is a special protection force called ‘black cats’, to provide security. High ranking police officials provide round the clock security to the Ministers. Bullet-proof cars and vests are also provided to them to reinforce their safety. But on many occasions, they are not able to save themselves from harm, in spite of all these safeguards.

We are all aware of the brutal killing of the former Indian Prime Minister – Mrs. Indira Gandhi, by her own security staff. The President of Sri Lanka – Mr. Premadasa, was killed in a bomb blast, while attending the Labour Day Celebrations, in the midst of tight security. Even Israel, which is most advanced in its intelligence and security, could not save their own President. Also Mr. John F. Kennedy, the President of the most powerful nation, the United States of America, was assassinated amidst many layers of heavy security. Such is the limitation of the security provided by this world.

The Scripture says: “Unless the Lord builds the house, They labour in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1-2). “Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper;
