JUNE 30 – BLESSED!
“May you be blessed, my son David! You shall both do great things and also still prevail” (I Samuel 26:25).
In this wonderful verse of the Scripture, several promises find a place one after the other. How joyous it is for the Scripture to say, “You are blessed. You shall do great things and also still prevail.”
If you meditate over the reason and the basic cause for such a blessing, you may also inherit those blessings. Saul the King was fully focused on chasing and hunting David down. While in a forest, Saul was tired and he lied down near the chariot and slept. David and his military leader Abishai saw this.
Abishai looked up to David and said, “God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day. Now, therefore, please, let me strike him at once with the spear”. Do you know what the reply of David was? He said, “Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?” (I Samuel 26:9). They took Saul’s spear and the jug of water that were lying nearby. No man saw or knew that and no one was awakened by that.
Saul was broken-hearted on knowing how David refrained from killing him even after God had delivered him to David. So, Saul said to David, “I have sinned. Return, my son David. For I will harm you no more because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Indeed I have played the fool and erred exceedingly” (I Samuel 26:21).
Not only that. Saul was moved and he blessed David saying, “May you be blessed, my son David! You shall both do great things and also still prevail”. Dear children of God, if you want to get blessed by God with the same words, what you need to do is not to put your hands on those who are anointed. Do not talk or write against them because the anointed people are special in the eyes of God.
Dear children of God, our God is one who brings something to eat from the eater and guarantee from the strong. He can turn even the hands that do evil to you into hands that would help you. Only once, you cross over this world. Do not earn the hatred of anyone. Satan is the only force against whom you have to rise and oppose. Let your fight be against him alone.
To meditate: “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him” (Proverbs 16:7).
