Oct 03 – bread and water!
“He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you” (Exodus 23:25).^pHow wonderful are the covenants of blessing which God has made with you! He is your source of blessing. He has concern, desire and eagerness in blessing His children. ^pWhen God guided the children of Israel through the wilderness, He poured down manna from heaven as their bread. It happened to be sufficient for everyone. Since that manna was a blessed one, there was no weak person among the children of Israel. ^pWhen Elijah was hiding by the Brook Cherith, He commanded the ravens to provide him food. He ate bread brought by the raven every day and drank the water from the river. When that river became dry, God rose the widow of Zarephath to give him bread and water. Never forget that God is very much concerned about you also. “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?” (Mathew 6:31). ^pWhen Jesus Christ was in this world, He once took the bread and blessed it. That bread was sufficient to feed five thousand people. He is the blessed bread for you. The word ‘bread’ has a deep and great meaning in the New Testament. Jesus Christ called Himself the bread of life (John 6:35).^pGod not only blesses your bread but will also your water. In the Old Testament, He blessed the water of the children of Israel. The water during the days of the children of Israel was very pure. When the children of Israel came to Marah, God turned the bitter water of Marah into a sweet one. God quenched their thirst with the water from the rock. When the water in the city of Jericho became bad, God performed a miracle through Elisha and made the water healthy. ^pLook! How great the water given by God is! The Scripture says, “…whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14). God is one to bless the bread and the water. Pray. Let the bread and water in your home also remain blessed by God. ^pTo meditate: “May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 115:14, 15).^p
