Sep 29 – He was strengthened!
“He was fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised, and, glorifying God, he was strengthened in faith” (Romans 4:21).
God calls us to receive His power. But how do we “receive” it? Abraham shows us the way in the verse above. Let’s read it carefully: “Being fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised, he glorified God and was strengthened in faith.”
This verse highlights four key truths:
- God is able – He can fulfill His promises.
- Complete conviction – Trust fully in His power.
- Glorify God – Give praise to Him.
- Be strengthened in faith – Faith grows as we depend on Him.
Our God is omnipotent. He created the heavens, sun, moon, and stars, and sustains them by His power. As we praise His might, His power flows into our lives.
The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
Consider Samson. When God’s strength came upon him, the ropes and bindings that held him were burned like straw. Similarly, God’s power can break every limitation in your life and transform you into a vessel of fire for His glory.
Abraham trusted God’s promise of descendants. By faith in God’s power, he became the father of a countless nation.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego relied on God’s deliverance, and His power saved them from the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:17). Just as they boldly declared, the Lord delivered them from the burning fiery furnace, and from the hand of the king.
Beloved, if God has given you a promise, always remember: He is mighty and able to fulfill it. Even if the heavens and earth pass away, God will accomplish His word in your life.
Verse for further meditation: “God sent his angel and shut the mouths of the lions, so that they harmed me not” (Daniel 6:22).
