Nov 25 – SOUL IS A BATTLEFIELD !

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

“The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20)

Though a man’s body perishes, what remains immortal is his soul. The soul is so precious.  What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

The Lord loves your soul; and wants to reside in it.  ”Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God” (Revelation 21:3).  You are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you (1 Corinthians 3:16).  “For the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you” (1 Peter 4:14).  Christ is also in you, as the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

But Satan fights to win that soul to his side. Satan thinks that if he can make you sin against God, he can come and live in you.  He entices you with various sinful desires and worldly pleasures; and he calls you to enjoy them.  When sin comes into you, you lose the precious relationship with God.  He knows pretty well that your sin will stand as a great wall between you and God; and will hide the face of God.

The Scripture says, “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)

The battle in your soul is a battle between sin and holiness.  Satan spreads his snares against the children of God, by enticing them with pornography, movies, dances, worldly pleasures, drugs, lustful desires, sorceries and other such things.  But our Lord has shed His precious blood to help us to be victorious over sin and satan.  He has given us His word : the Scripture, and the spirit of prayer.

Whoever is not aware of the fact that he is standing on a battlefield; and indulges himself in worldly lusts and desires; and wastes away his time in idle chatting; and lacks in prayer – satan will easily enter into him and lead him to destruction.

The Scripture says, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” (James 1:14-15).  “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

Verse for further meditation: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness… and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:9,7).
