“Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring; his branches run over the wall” (Genesis 49:22 ESV).
The blessings on the sons of Joseph, were the most wonderful and delightful blessings of Jacob, upon his children. The Lord who blessed Joseph so wonderfully, will also bless you in the same manner; as there is no partiality in Him.
The Scripture says that Joseph is a fruitful bough; the main branch of the vine. If it were planted in a dry and arid ground, it will not produce fruits. Where are you planted? If you are planted by a spring, then you will produce much fruit for the Lord.
You feel happy to see a tree with bountiful fruits. It is visually appealing and you also appreciate the taste of the fruits. But the secret behind such bountiful fruits; is in the connectedness of its roots with the fountain. You may have seen many believers and ministers of God, who are very fruitful; and you wonder how they are filled with the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. The secret; is how deeply they have their fellowship with the Spirit of God. They always walk closely with the Lord.
When you see a light shining very bright, you rejoice in that light. But do you know the secret of that light? It is because the wick of the lamp is always immersed in the oil. Your heart; which is the wick should also be joined with the Holy Spirit, for you rise and shine brightly.
When you see sky-scrapers, you feel happy with its imposing height. But how does it have the strength to stand so tall and majestic? It is because their foundations are laid on the rock. All those who have a deep connection with Christ – the Spiritual Rock; they will never be shaken and they will not be impacted by heavy rains, violent storms and will be steadfast like a building laid on sure foundation.
Children of God, the Lord has planted you by the rivers and He expects you to bear fruits for Him. The Scripture says; “Blessed is the man whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalm 1:2-3). Children of God, are you connected with the Spirit of God, all through the day and in the night? If you are like that, you shall be a fruitful bough.
Verse for further meditation: “Each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:2)
