Nov 19 – WHEN YOU PASS THROUGH THE RIVERS !

“When you pass through the rivers, they shall not overflow you” (Isaiah 43:2).

It may be easy to cross over stagnant water. But it is difficult to cross over rivers that overflow, and roar with thunderous noise. There are times when they can roll away those who attempt to cross them. But the Lord promises His children that when they pass through the rivers, they shall not flow over.

In Sri Lanka, a Tamil family was the target of attack by the locals. They broke open the main door and entered into the house. The elderly parents and their two daughters went into one of the rooms and started praying on their knees.

The parents were very troubled in their hearts, as they feared that the mob will kill them and abuse their children and spoil their lives forever. But the Lord did not permit such a situation. The Lord who promised that the rivers shall not flow over, was mighty to save them. At that very moment, a police van came to that spot for some other reason, and the gang thought it was to nab them and fled from the scene. Thus, the family was saved, and the family thanked and praised the Lord for such miraculous saving by the Lord. As the unchanging presence of the Lord is with you always, the rivers shall never flow over you. The Scripture says; “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you” (Psalm 91:7).

Today, you may be facing heavy tides or standing before a vast sea. The waves may be ready to toss and throw you and flow over you. But do not be afraid. The presence of the Lord; who promised to be with you when you pass through the waters; is with you at all times. The rivers may appear terrifying and intimidating. But since the Lord is with you, they shall never flow over you.

The Lord said to Moses; “When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt” (Deuteronomy 20:1).

Children of God, even if you have to face numerous struggles, or multitude of opponents, the Lord will not only be your advocate but He will also fight your battles. The Lord who said that He is always with you, even to the end of the age, is faithful and will always keep His promise (Mathew 28:20).

Verse for further meditation: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand’” (Isaiah 41:10).
